Description
CMP-Barker was awarded the piling works at St Mary the Virgin Church in Oxenhope, Yorkshire. This contract was for the installation of a 35m long Steel Sheet Piled Retaining Wall behind an already existing dry stone wall.
CMP-Barker safely overcame several issues occurred during this project:
- A major issue for the client, due to the position of the piles, was edge protection. CMP-Barker Ltd placed crash mats on the footpath to the bottom of the wall to alleviate the problem.
- Secondly, access for the plant & materials through the village to the site.
- CMP-Barker had to work inside Traffic Management throughout this contract.
- The proximity of graves in the churchyard.
- Also, access to and from local residences
CMP-Barker Ltd were contracted to:
- Firstly, deliver and off-load the sheet piles to site from our stock supply.
- Secondly, install the sheet piles behind the dry stone wall, utilising a Movax side gripper vibrator mounted onto a 25T excavator. The Council Watching Brief supervised CMP-Barker during this process.
- And finally, flame cut weep holes in the pile pans to allow water seepage.
CMP-Barker completed this project on programme and on budget
