Marine Piling for Infrastructure in Aberaeron, Wales
Installed flood defences at Aberaeron’s quay and harbour using a Hitachi Zaxis 350LC with Movax. Strengthened coastal protection against rising sea levels and storm surges.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project
Aberaeron’s quay and harbour needed flood defences to help protect the coastal frontage from storm surges and rising sea levels. We installed steel sheet piles to reinforce the existing infrastructure.
ITV News covered the wider work to protect the seaside resort from future flooding. Read the ITV News coverage.
THE CHALLENGE
Working in a tidal harbour
Strong tides and changing water levels made careful planning essential. Restricted access also meant our team needed to handle the piling equipment precisely.
We planned the work to minimise environmental impact and protect marine life and water quality.
OUR METHOD
Installing the sheet piles
Our team used a Hitachi Zaxis 350LC with a Movax attachment to install interlocking steel sheet piles along the quay and harbour.
We monitored and adjusted the piles during installation to maintain accuracy. We then secured the structure and integrated it with the existing quay and harbour defences.
THE RESULT
Strengthened flood defences
The new sheet pile defences strengthened the quay and harbour against flooding. Our team completed the project on time despite the tidal challenges and kept disruption to a minimum.
